Beep Baseball

•Beep baseball is a sport designed for athletes who are blind or have low vision.
•It consists of two buzzing bases and a beeping ball.
•Six outfielders are on the field at a time.
•To score, the offense has to reach a base before the outfielders retrieve the ball.

Goalball

•Another sport for athletes who are blind or have low vision is Goalball.  
•Goalball is played 3v3 with all athletes wearing identical blindfolds.
•The game itself is played on a volleyball-sized court marked out with taped rope and a goal at each end.
•The ball is the size and weight of a basketball and has a bell inside it so that the blindfolded players can only hear and move in response to its sound.

Track and Field

•Track and Field events include jumping, running, discus, shot put, and javelin.
•Athletes are encouraged to increase their speed as well as endurance during running activities.
•Field events are taught using a variety of developmental equipment.
•Advanced running and start techniques are taught to our highly skilled runners.

Swimming

•Swimming is taught by certified water safety instructors.
•Athletes are divided up into groups based on ability.
•Athletes are taught water safety skills, stroke development, competitive swimming skills, and fitness improvement.

Tandem
Biking

•Tandem Biking is a sport that athletes and coaches participate in together.
•Athletes ride with their coaches steering the front of the bike.
•Both people on the bike pedal and must work as a team to balance the tandem bike.

Cooperative Games
and
Adventure

•Throughout the weekend, we do cooperative games to get to know one another, promote self-confidence, and help athletes learn how to work as a team.
• On Sunday evening, we participate in adventure-based activities. Like cooperative games, these activities are used to promote self-confidence.
• Adventure activities include an indoor obstacle course or a combination of low and high ropes, based on each athlete's ability level.

Dance

•Saturday evening we have a camp dance.
•Dancing gives the athletes a chance to express their creativity, socialization, and community living skills.  
•In addition to step aerobics and hip hop dance instruction, we have a period of free dance that allows time for socialization and fun!

Nutrition
Camp Abilities PA also strives to teach the athletes the importance of healthy eating habits so they can learn to make better decisions for a healthier tomorrow.  We have created a tactile Food Pyramid that we will be sharing with the athletes throughout the weekend.
